That scene where the GM Sniper K9 was being pulverized by the Kampfer Amazing's gatling gun was so satisfying. It was an "Oh yeah! Take that!" moment for me.

Wait, what are you talking about? The Efreet Custom is a...well, custom Efreet. The Efreet significantly predates the Kampfer.
It may not look like a Kampfer, but the Efreet is built based on the Kampfer. The one in "War in the Pocket" is the experimental version, but there was an earlier Green Kampfer which was a prototype version.
I think the 1st Anonymous is right.
According to the Gundam Wiki, MS-08TX Efreet is made by the Zimmand Company to compete with Zeonic Company's MS-07B Gouf. (Much like the Zaku vs Zudah thing).
That was early OYW.
It was during the late remaining days of OYW that the YMS-18 Prototype Kampfer appear and subsequently the MS-18E Kampfer.

The Efreet you posted didn't have the EXAM system in it. This one however has it:

What relevance does that have? The point is the Efreet is not at all based on the Kampfer, predating it by months.

Ok...didn't go on to read the Efreet Custom page.
But seems like its the only resource to mention it based on Kampfer.
"It was built based on the LATER experimental suit MS-18E Kämpfer. "
So in the end Efreet Custom still predates Kampfer.
I read it like based on something thats not there yet.
Both japanese wiki and wikia have no mention of Kampfer.
(Perhaps only the mention that the shotgun in the ZEONOGRAPHY figure is the same design as Kampfer.)

Not mentioned at MAHQ as well.
For the original Efreet, the japanese sources say that 8 units are produced.
One battled Pixie in Cross Dimension 0079, another battles another Pixie (theres 3 Pixies according to wikia) in up coming Missing Link, another got fitted with EXAM and became Efreet Custom, another becomes Nacht in Gundam Senki and another became Schneid in Gundam UC, 3 more left for future side stories.
Efreet's G Generation Overworld profile also mentioned the 8 units.
To me its more like Kampfer is built on top of the data from Efreet.
But unlike the melee Efreet, Kampfer doesn't seem like the melee type.
From the japanese wiki page for the Blue Destiny game, it says that the Blue Destiny events happenned during late OYW so MAYBE Kampfer or Proto Kampfer already exists and it affected the remodelling process of that one Efreet unit to Efreet Custom. (Maybe thats what the english wikia is trying to say? But there no written proof.)

I am pretty convinced that the original Efreet predates Kampfer.
But in the end the details on Efreet Custom's relation to Kampfer is still unclear.
It feels like theres still some missing link.
How about Mao's pose during the start of the episode? I'll just leave it at "The pose that will pierce the heavens!" bit...
Thanks for taking your time to research this extensively. Yes, besides the Wikia article, I cant fine anymore evidence about this. If ever I evidence that suggest that the particlura "Efreet Custom" with EXAM system wasn't based on the Kampfer, I'll just retract what I said above.
I checked what you were saying. Was it the one with the Earth background? Can you tell me more about this?
